Welome back to Sarah Speaks Up. Here’s a little bit about me…

Sarah grew up in Berlin, Connecticut. She attended one year at Berklee College of Music, studying vocal performance, after graduating from Berlin High School in 1999. She is currently a student at Central Connecticut State University, studying Communications. 

Sarah is a single mother, who survived 10 years of Domestic Violence at the hands of her ex-husband. She is focused on raising her daughter in an abuse free environment & teaching her to be an independent empowered girl. Since escaping her abusive marriage, she has become a certified domestic violence counselor at the Prudence Crandall Center in New Britain, Connecticut. She has done several newspaper interviews, sharing her story of strength and hope. She was also one of the two survivors featured in the film “Trauma to Triumph”, which is being displayed on Vimeo and the Prudence Crandall Center’s website. She has spoken at several events including A Toast to Women, Connecticut Women’s Conference, Women in Business Summit, and is a speaker at the Prudence Crandall Center’s Hope Tour. 

Sarah is currently in the process of writing her memoir and building her non-profit. She has a passion for speaking out about Domestic Violence in an effort to inspire, educate, strengthen, and unify all people. She is proud to be a living example of the fact that people CAN change their lives. People CAN flourish in the wake of Domestic Violence.
